Mike Thompson, Founder / Senior Business Consultant
Michael Thompson is a seasoned entrepreneur and passionate family man with a storied career in the cannabis and restaurant industry. After building and operating five successful cannabis cultivation facilities, two retail stores, one of which, Emerald Fields Manitou, became the highest-grossing dispensary in the state of Colorado, Michael and partners sold his first company for an impressive $30 million in 2022.
Following this milestone, Michael turned his expertise toward consulting, helping both cannabis and non-cannabis businesses refine their operations. It was in 2024, while working with one of the big-name cannabis consulting firms that he came to the realization that most of the “cannabis experts” at these consulting firms lacked real-world cannabis experience—some didn’t even have formal business educations, leading Thompson to question the authenticity of services being offered. Determined to change the narrative, Michael founded Kindling Cannabis Advisors to create a team of true industry professionals with hands-on experience.
Mike’s commitment to bettering the industry didn’t stop there.
Most recently, he and his investment group, New Relic Capital, assumed operational control of Level 10, a state-of-the-art, 30,000-square-foot indoor cultivation facility, located in Denver, Colorado. At Level 10, Michael works as the Fractional Chief Cultivation Officer where he oversees cultivation operations.
When Michael isn’t producing some of the best cannabis in Colorado, he’s working alongside his wife at their three award winning restaurants, (T-Byrds Tacos & Tequila, district elleven and -[bird tree cafe]-) bringing their shared vision of hospitality to life. A devoted father, he can often be found on the sidelines cheering for his daughter Sunny at her various sporting events.
Mike loves working with fellow entrepreneurs to offer his years of experience, Mike takes an active role with all clients and partners.
